ATOL: Air Travel Organisers' Licensing

ATOL is a protection scheme managed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). UK companies who sell air travel are required by law to hold an ATOL licence.

ATOL protects clients from losing money or being stranded when an operator goes out of business. All licensed travel companies have lodged bonds with the CAA so that, in the event of failure, the CAA can provide refunds and arrange for people abroad to complete their travel. ATOL protection is included in the price when booked with an ATOL holder.
